The FULL Gospel

A simple telling of the Gospel of Jesus Christ

We hear a lot of speakers spouting on about “Jesus Christ”, “the Gospel”, and about “Sin”. What do they have to do with any of us?

When God created the world and all that is in it, He created us too. He gave us standards to live by. Standards of behaviour, speech, and thoughts.

The trouble started when the first people, the Bible calls them Adam and Eve, first sinned. What is sin? It is a falling short of the standards of thought, word, and deed that God set for us. As a consequence, sin entered the world and as a further consequence, we have ALL sinned. We cannot help it – it’s part of our nature to either not do what God asked of us or to do that which we know He doesn’t want us to do.

In short, we were alienated from God by this sin.

However, our God is a loving, merciful and forgiving God. The Bible tells us, in John 3:16-17, that “God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.”

Who is this Son of God? It is Jesus Christ who is the Son of God. Many people only know that Name as something they say when angry. Many others know Him personally as our Lord and Saviour – the Son of the Lord God Almighty.

First came John – known as the Baptist. The Bible tells his story this way in Mark 1:4-5 “John came baptizing in the wilderness and preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. Then all the land of Judea, and those from Jerusalem, went out to him and were all baptized by him in the Jordan River, confessing their sins.” Repentance is a sorrowful admission of our sin and a turning away from it – a determination to sin no more.

Jesus once said “I am the way the truth the light no-one comes to the Father except by me”. This means that no-one can come to God except through Him. There are those who say there are many ways to God – but they are wrong. There only one way and that is through Jesus Christ.

Jesus lived just over 2000 years ago. Our entire date system is based around the supposed date of His birth which is why we are now in the year 2011 A.D. – That Latin for Anno Domini – which literally translates as “the year of our Lord”. Dates before that are nominated as B.C. or “Before Christ”.

In the days when Jesus lived on earth, He was bated by the Jews of His day, vilified by the Romans, and finally crucified for our sins and rose again. Yes – He rose from the dead to finally pay the price for our sin and conquer death so that “whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” That is – live with God in heaven for all time.

Now, there are many people who believe they will go to heaven by being good, by being kind, by feeding the poor and by being an all round good person. They believe that if they love their children and their Mum & Dad, that will help them too. But the Bible does not teach us that. The Bible says that only by accepting Jesus as our Lord and Saviour and by confessing His Name before men will we get to heaven. There are many warnings about this throughout the Bible, yet probably the majority of people seem to think “It’ll be all right. I’ve led a decent life.”

NO IT WONT be all right. You need to ask Jesus to forgive your sins and to come into your heart and to be your own personal Lord and Saviour. You see, Christianity isn’t just about going to church, it’s about a personal relationship with Jesus. He desperately wants to be your friend and for you to be His friend.

So – what do you need to do about this Jesus then ???

Repent – confess your sins, then be and say sorry to God for all that old sin and ask Him to take it all away so that you will be free

Next, and this is so very important, turn away from your sin. You see being sorry isn’t good enough. It’s a good start, but you need to make up your mind to turn away from it and not do it again.

Turn instead to Jesus - He alone can save you and take you with Him to heaven.

Ask Him into our lives as Lord and Saviour – start a relationship with Him. Now TELL someone what you have done – anyone who will listen.

Talk to Jesus – we call this activity “prayer”. Someone will teach you all about this.

Get a Bible and read it using some simple notes like “Every Day with Jesus” Pick up your life and follow Him.

Then you can say with confidence – “I have Eternal life because Jesus lives in my heart and I am following Him.”

Simple innit ???

If you’ve never prayed this before and you want to give your life to Jesus today, pray this simple prayer – and mean it !!

“Lord, I thank You for Your love and Your mercy,
thank You, Lord, for the word that has reached my heart today.

Father, I ask for Your forgiveness.
Forgive me.
Wash me with Your precious blood.

Write my name in the Book of Life.
Accept me as Your child, Lord.
Please, Come into my heart today, right now, as my Lord and Saviour.

Right now, I forgive anyone that I had not been able to forgive.
I renounce to my lack of forgiveness.

I renounce all things that have hindered Your flow, and I ask You to transform me and to fill me with Your presence every day.

Thank You, Father, Son and Holy Spirit; in the Name of Jesus, Amen.”
