A New Home 1

A New Home

It was not a move we wanted. It was not a move we anticipated. It was a move we decided upon for economic reasons rather than anything else. However, it was a move that had the hand of God all over it, and just two weeks ago now, we moved into our new home.

We searched the internet for our new home. We looked all around the area we previously lived but the prices were too high. We looked further afield but again, the prices were too high. Then Linda, my wife, spotted it and she exclaimed, “Here is our new home – come have a look.” I looked and what I saw was an amazing little country cottage set in a very quiet country lane yet still within 2 minutes drive of the town centre. The price was OK too. But, I asked, “Where is that town?” “Oh – about 150 miles North of where we are now!” “Oh good”, I thought a little sarcastically,

Any way, we drove to see the place – fell in love with it and told the agent. To our great surprise, he phoned the owner and, based solely on our expressed interest, had it taken off the market. I asked, God, “Do you really want us up there Lord?” Apparently so as four weeks later here we were !! Actually, we did know some people in the town and there was a pretty good church for us to go to, so the move wasn’t a total leap in the dark.

We had several words of prophecy about it too. All pointing to a new ministry to which God was calling us. Now just in case you think these were prophecies given based on knowledge, they weren’t. They were all given to us before we even began to think about moving. Given at our wedding back in November last year and confirmed three times in between times. So we were a little bit excited.

So now we are settling in to our new home. Some new furniture, some old. Some old friends and many new. We’ve met all the neighbours too – much friendlier than they were down South. Then came the exciting bit. It happened today after the morning service. We were having coffee and chatting to some of our new friends, brothers and sisters in the Lord, when we were asked about some ministry. Could we help? We had never said a word to anyone about what we believe our ministry callings are, but a good friend heard about the ‘problem’ and immediately introduced us into the situation.

Before we all get excited there are some protocols to be followed. Then we start praying – “is this to be part of our calling up here Lord? Is this why we’ve come? Is this what You want us to do Lord?” So many questions which will all be answered in time.

It’s an exciting start to our new life. Keep watching this space for updates as God reveals His plans to us and for us.

  1. Chris, Great post! It just goes to show that God can and does use us where ever we are...if we are willing. I thank God for your willingness and I thank you for sharing it. Blessings!
