Worthy is the Lamb

Worthy is the Lamb

Our church is running a ‘foundations’ course. It is a series of teachings on the basics of the Christian walk – What we believe, why we believe it, what the Bible teaches, and Christian ethics. Today was all about prayer and worship – or worth-ship to give it it’s proper name. Talking about worship, we were discussing how we worship and what our favourite style is. Various people had various preferred styles of course, until someone mentioned the Hillsong hit, Worthy is the Lamb. Isn’t it amazing how just one song can set your spirit soaring ‘on eagles wings’? At our old church we started prayer evenings with a worship song and one track, that will forever be a favourite of mine, was ‘Worthy is the Lamb/Crown Him with Many Crowns’ integrated together as one track.

Whilst they fit together beautifully, and it is a pure joy to worship using those two songs, it was (still is) the words of the chorus of Worthy is the Lamb that particularly set my pulse racing and my heart soaring. I would often be lost in worship, praise, and adoration of the Lord, whilst singing these words. “High and lifted up, Jesus Son of God, The darling of heaven crucified” often left, and still leaves me, in tears of joy and gratitude to Jesus my Saviour.

Worthy is the Lamb

Thank you for the cross, Lord.

Thank you for the price you paid.

Bearing all my sin and shame, in love you came

And gave Amazing Grace.

Thank you for the scars, Lord.

Thank you for the nail-pierced hands.

Wash me in Your cleansing flow, now all I know...

Your forgiveness and embrace.

Worthy is the Lamb

Seated on the throne.

We crown You now with many crowns

You reign victorious!

High and lifted up

Jesus, Son of God.

The darling of Heaven, crucified...

Worthy is the Lamb.
