Trusting God
The last two blogs have been about raising faith and trusting God. Now, I want to really nail this down for you by giving you some present day examples of trusting God. There are probably many stories of trust that you could tell me but for those of you experiencing issues right now and, perhaps, having a problem with trust, I want to encourage you with these three short testimonies. These are ordinary folk like you and me who have experienced, first hand, the benefits of trusting the Lord.
A working lady with a family earned little – barely enough to pay the rent and bills. One day a colleague at work heard her talking, apparently to herself. When asked about it the lady responded that she was talking to her “best friend, Jesus!”. She went on to explain that Jesus kept her supplied to the point where she could happily tithe her low income without worrying where the money was coming from. “Jesus knows my needs and I trust Him completely for them.” was her response to the obvious, amazed, question. “If there is no food, or the kids need clothes, Jesus knows. I will go home and find someone has left a bag of groceries in the porch, or left some usually new clothes in a bag, or even pushed some money into my mail box. You see, Jesus is faithful to me because I am faithful to Him and I trust Him for my needs. Doesn’t the Bible say that even the birds of the air are fed and watered by God. So why would I not trust God for all of my needs?” Now that’s trust isn’t it?
A man in our church was diagnosed with lung cancer earlier this year. Obviously he was very concerned until he received an encouraging word from the Lord about everything being in God’s hands and that he would be healed. He decided to trust God and immediately he made that decision, he felt a peace in his heart that he would not have known to be possible in those circumstances. A biopsy revealed that the cancer was the mildest known variety and that one simple operation was all that was needed to repair the damage. It meant losing about one third of one lung. Encouraged by this, the man kept his faith in the words God had sent to him. The operation came and went and in his first visit to the his oncologist afterwards he was told that “all traces of cancer is gone and there is no need of further treatment.” That’s the result of trusting God and taking Him at His word.
Finally, my wife and I met in Twitter !! We really did. She had been in an abusive marriage and here was God, seemingly asking her to trust Him and marry this complete stranger from 5000 miles away. Add to that the fact that we had never met and you can see the amount of trust needed. To add to her load, when she asked Him what she should take and what she should leave, the Lord responded, “Leave it ALL!” Wow – thats really some ask isn’t it? That is when He asked her, “What part of trust do you not understand?” We met last September. We married November 5th in Texas and returned here Nov 10th. There have been some ‘moments’ but the Lord is sorting us out – me more than Linda. That was, and still, is TRUST in God and His plans for us – His provision for us – and His love for us. We are planning our first anniversary right now – should be a blast.
So which part of trust do you still not understand? Give it all to God and He will see you through everything.
