God’s Favour

A Bed-Time Story

Have you received God’s favour lately. I mean, His totally unwarranted and undeserved favour. We did today. When we moved house, we decided to change beds and we duly went out and bought a new one. At the time, we were delighted at the bargain price, too, and we eagerly awaited it’s arrival.

Arrive it duly did, and the delivery guys not only placed it where we wanted it, they also assembled it for us AND took away all the packing as well. We thanked God for our purchase and commenced some extremely comfortable nights of pure bliss – well close anyway.

Now, it is said that if something appears to be a real bargain, it probably isn’t. Worse still, if it seems almost too good to be true, then it definitely isn’t. SO you may imagine our dismay last Saturday night, just after we retired to bed, when we heard a loud crack! This was closely followed by a few more lesser cracks. This was followed by hoots of laughter as we both ended up climbing out of the wreckage of our ‘wonderful’ new bed. Oh dear, oh dear – what a shame – never mind. Oh well, we have spare single beds for guests so we slept there instead for two nights. We determined to have a proper look at it all today and do whatever was necessary to repair the situation.

So it was, this morning, that I ended up, camera in hand, taking pics at all angles prior to setting off back to the shop to see what they said. The same sales lady who had served us before was there and she was very helpful, even though her first words on inspecting the photos were, “Well, you really do get what you pay for.” This did not augur well. After about an hour of pondering, prodding, inspecting bed frames for strength etc, we finally chose a new one – at a hugely higher price than the last one.

“Such is the price of foolishness”, we thought. Until, that is, the lady presented the order for us to sign. Without a word from us, she had deducted the price of the original bed from our bill !! A FULL refund.

THAT is God’s favour !! Oh Hallelujah – thank you Lord \o/
