Does God Still Heal Today?

The conversation went something like this – “Does God still heal today? “;

“Yes“ ;

“How do you know that for certain? “;

“I have seen it – watched it happening.“

“I know the church sometimes anoints sick people but I thought that was a comfort thing – does it have any effect?”

“Yes.“

“Tell me about it?”

Well, what was I supposed to do – ignore the man? I answered with three examples – all three of these good people are known to me personally.

1 One of our present church leadership team recently was diagnosed with lung cancer. All the tests and biopsies confirmed that he had cancer in the lower half of one lung. We all prayed for our friend during the Sunday morning service. In the next day or so, he went to the hospital for another x-ray and biopsy. These showed that there was no further spread of the disease and that, indeed, the cancer was the mildest, least aggressive form known. It was even suggested that a single operation to remove the damaged part of his lung would suffice. Less than a month later, the operation completed, he was declared completely cancer free. “Go enjoy the rest of your life.”

2 An elderly man in Denmark had a seriously dangerous cancer and, when we first saw him, the Lord told us that he was so weak that he probably had just two weeks to live. Our first conversation with his pastor and his family confirmed this. We spent an hour or so telling him of others who had been healed and, as we did so, we saw his faith rising. We prayed with him and went on our way. This was at 4 in the afternoon. Next morning, we had and excited phone call to say that, in his home group the previous night, this man had resumed his role as a leader; he had been prophesying again – something he hadn’t done for months apparently – and he was praying for others to be healed. About a week later we heard again. The man had been to the hospital and had walked in rather than being wheeled in a chair. Following double taken and double checked x-rays and tests, he had been declared completely cancer free. “An impossibility according to his hospital records of three weeks earlier”

3 Again in Denmark, we met a quite remarkable man. We will call him Frank, because that is his name. Frank’s wife Bente had come along to a home group meeting we had attended and at the end of the meeting had shyly asked if we could visit Frank. He was very downcast and depressed. Frank was a Christian Biker – leader of a biker group who took Jesus Christ and Biker Bibles all over Europe to all sorts of biker events. He was now a broken man as a van had crippled him in an accident three years previously. He was on extremely powerful drugs and likely to be on them for the rest of his life. One leg was two inches shorter than the other. His spine was bent into an ‘s’ shape due to the pressure on his frame as he could no longer walk or stand properly. There were multiple other physical and psychological things wrong as well and Frank was, quite honestly, close to suicidal. One of our team spoke words of knowledge over him and you could see his faith rising too. As one spoke a word of knowledge, Frank and or Bente agreed with it and the rest of us prayed over Frank.

That’s when the miracle started. First of all we watched his legs as the shorter one grew two inches to match the other one. Then, as he stood up, we watched his body, his bent spine, straighten up in front of our eyes. And so it went on. About an hour later, Frank was walking around without any crutches or sticks; he was laughing with joy at his returned freedom of movement; and he was praising God for his healing. When he returned to hospital about a week later, his doctor called other doctors in to read his notes, then he introduced Frank to them. One flatly refused to believe he was the same man until shown all the evidence. Today Frank is a walking testimonial to the healing power of God. He is even off all the drugs – something he was told would take two years to achieve but which God did in three months.

Does God still heal today – judge for yourselves. We have medical proof of all the above cases.
