Shaking and All That.

Shake Rattle and Roll

Oh my goodness! What am I doing trying to link the Bible to an old rock and roll hit. Well I’m not – not really. They just happen to go together in quite an apposite manner. The Lord had me looking at the shaking in relation to end times prophecies – and it is getting quite interesting. But first – what does the Word of God say?

Haggai 2:6-9 NLT - “For this is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: In just a little while I will again shake the heavens and the earth, the oceans and the dry land. I will shake all the nations, and the treasures of all the nations will be brought to this Temple. I will fill this place with glory, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. The future glory of this Temple will be greater than its past glory, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. And in this place I will bring peace. I, the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, have spoken!”

First, I want to look at a couple of meanings of the word “shake”.

Firstly it means to cause to quiver, tremble, vibrate, or rock. As in earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, and storms?

To cause to lose stability or waver. As in world monetary systems, banks, and currencies?

To disturb or agitate; unnerve. As in politically stirring up or agitating one community against another?

To brandish or wave, especially in anger. As in ‘hate mobs’ shaking their fists and clubs and more against those with whom they have the sightest disagreement?

To clasp (hands) in greeting or leave-taking or as a sign of agreement. As in the wheeling and dealing of politicians and others?

I find it amazing how many of these definitions are happening in the world right now. I find it amazing that so many cannot see that the shaking, spoken of so clearly in this passage, is happening right now. Look with me again please

I will again shake the heavens and the earth, the oceans and the dry land. As in “quiver, tremble, vibrate, or rock?” As in earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, and storms?

I will shake all the nations, and the treasures of all the nations will be brought to this Temple. As in losing stability or wavering? As in world monetary systems, banks, and currencies? As in politically stirring up or agitating one community against another? As in ‘hate mobs’ shaking their fists and clubs and more against those with whom they have the slightest disagreement? As in the wheeling and dealing of politicians and others?

I will fill this place with glory, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Meaning His new temple will be filled with His Glory?

The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. All the wealth and riches of the world are as nothing compared to the riches of God’s Kingdom.

The future glory of this Temple will be greater than its past glory, says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies. Here is a promise “we can take to the bank”. The Glory of this new temple will be greater than that of our old temple.

And in this place I will bring peace. AND this new temple will be filled with His peace.

Brothers and Sisters in our Lord Jesus Christ, we are in the prophesied times of shaking. The Lord is shaking all that can be shaken – every one of the world’s values, that are not of God, is being shaken. Every sin, every rebellion, every greed or jealousy, everything that is not of God is being shaken.

First the shaking and rattling, then the rolling - possibly the Rapture ???
