Say the Word
Isaiah
55:11 (NKJV) “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not
return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper
in the thing for which I sent it. “
There
are moments when we hear from God and say to ourselves and to Him, “I can’t say
that!” When this happens, the Lord frequently just keeps pressing us to say
whatever He has given us and to stand back and watch what happens. He also
often reminds me of the mountain moving scripture from Matthew 17:20 “So Jesus
said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you
have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to
there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you. “ A good friend
of ours recently gave an excellent word on mountain moving which spoke of the
effect of sound waves. God speaks and sound waves go out. It’s an interesting
effect that sound has in mountain areas.
However,
when God does say something we simply don’t understand, and we say, “I can’t
say that, Lord.”, He often simply presses us to say it, then to stand back and
watch. I recall once saying to a young man in front of me seeking a word from
the lord, saying something along the lines of, “You asked the Lord this morning
. . . . . “ The young man’s face was a picture. On another occasion, a minister
said, “If you sign that contract . . . “. The man receiving ministry gasped –
“How do you know about that?”, and his particular mountain crumbled before him.
All because someone spoke out what the Lord asked him to say.
On
a larger stage, can you imagine how Elijah felt telling King Ahab that it
wouldn’t rain again until he, Elijah, said so. Nevertheless, he spoke the Word
– and it didn’t rain for three and a half years.
To
continue the mountain analogy, I heard this the other day. For many years,
mountain people, when threatened by avalanches, clear all they can out of the
way then send a loud noise at the loose snow. This somehow causes it to
dislodge all the snow in order to start an avalanche. What does an avalanche do?
It clears a wide path down the mountain. Everything is swept aside – big trees,
small trees, rocks and boulders, houses and other buildings, everything is
simply swept away.
There’s
another analogy there about the church isn’t there? When revival comes,
everything that was there before – all plans programs and schemes; all those
self-promoted or politically promoted – are simply swept aside by Holy Spirit
as He dose His work in the community. All eminence and prominence is pulled
down to the same level as folk are each humbled then all are lifted up together
before the Lord.
So,
when the Lord gives it, just say the Word and stand back in wonder and awe as
the Lord brings what has been spoken to fruition. Every single word from the Lord
is sent for a purpose and every single word achieves the purpose for which it
was sent.
Just
say it – out loud – for all to hear and for the Lord to use for His Glory and
honour.
