This is the Gospel

The Gospel in a Nutshell

I thought it about time I explained the Gospel of Jesus Christ in simple terms – so. Here is the basic Gospel plan of salvation set out as a series of scriptures or Bible verses which we can all understand.

What is sin?

It is a shortfall of God’s standards of behaviour for us. It is missing the mark that God has set. In thoughts, words, and deeds.

All have sinned

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

There is a penalty for sin

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

John 3:18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

You cannot save yourself

Titus 3:5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit,”

James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.”

Salvation has been provided

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

The conditions for salvation are simple

Repent Luke 13:3 I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish.”

Confess 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Believe Acts 16:31 “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.”

Now is the time for decision

Joshua 24:15 And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

2 Corinthians 6:2 For He says: “In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you.” Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”

Share your new faith

Confess Christ Before Men Matthew 10:32-33Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.”

Join a good church Acts 2:47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”

Tell others your story Matthew 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.”

Simple really – Pray this prayer when you are ready – or call us and we will very gladly help you.

Dear Lord Jesus Christ

I call upon your name

Save me now

Forgive me my sins

And break every chain

I put my faith alone in you

I believe with my heart

What I now speak with my mouth

The light of salvation has come

I am a child of God

I belong to Jesus

For ever and ever and ever

In the name of Jesus

AMEN
