Let
the Young People Loose
1 Timothy 4:12 and 14 (NKJV) “Let no
one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct,
in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity. Do not neglect the gift that is in
you, which was given to you by prophecy with the laying on of the hands of the
eldership.”
Isn’t it amazing how time and time again the Word
of God confirms what we have been thinking. I was actually ministering to one
of our own young people the other day. This young man has a wonderful anointing
for evangelism through music. He occasionally leads the praise and worship in
church and, like the rest of our youngsters, he is still a raw talent but
nevertheless an anointed talent.
So as I read this scripture I realised there is
Biblical support for my passion to see the young, the next generation, released
into their various ministries. Oh of course they will need some supervision,
some guidance, mentoring, and they will need to have their excesses reined in a
bit.
BUT, and here is my point, it is time to let some
of our young people, raw though they are, loose. It is time to release them
into their whole ministry.
Our church is blessed with multiple talented
people, young and older. Your church is no different. You have a depth of hidden
or suppressed talent that is just bursting to get out there and practiced what
we oldies talk about each week but of which we seem to do very little.
You don’t keep the lid on a boiling pot, you
simply lift the lid and allow the pot to let off some steam. It’s time to start
releasing some of your steam before the pot boils over and you lose all your
carefully nurtured
next generation.
Don’t just “think about it”, do something about it
before it is too late.
