A Sense of Urgency
I
can blame my precious lady for this one. The Lord prompted her to read the Book
of Jude this morning. She read some of it out to me and the Lord prompted me to
start writing.
Jude
1:10-13 “But these speak evil of whatever
they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these
things they corrupt themselves. Woe to them! For they have
gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit,
and perished in the rebellion of Korah. These are spots in your love feasts, while they feast with you without
fear, serving only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried about by
the winds; late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots;
raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering
stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.”
Does
this remind you of anything? Today’s society perhaps? The media?
Who
do you know who speaks evil of that which he doesn’t know?
Who
do you know who is corrupt, a profiteer, and is self-serving?
Who
do you know who are “are clouds without water, carried about by the winds”?
Who
do you know who ‘foams’ in their own shame?
The list is long, yet such people are simply the
lost for whom Jesus died. They are those in power and positions of influence. They
are the media. They are big business. They are politicians at all levels. Yet
they are also the people all around you – including you!! These are they whom
God is calling to repentance and to turn away from their sin. These are like
the woman told to “Go and sin no more”. They are the ones whom God loves – He only
hates their sin, He loves the people themselves.
These are the “wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.”
That’s anyone who doesn’t know the Lord including you and me. Why do we think
that so many will spend eternity in heaven who did not know Jesus as their
personal Saviour? Jesus is the way the truth and the light – the only way, the
only truth, the only light.
This
is why I have a sense of urgency for God’s Kingdom work at this time.
