The Dawning Day
Acts
1:7 “And He said to
them, “It is
not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own
authority.”
God the Father has set the time and day for Jesus to return.
He has set that appointment on His own authority. He has told no-one, not even
Jesus, the date or time. The dawning day, today, will this be it? Might it
happen today?
If it is today, are you ready? Is your lamp filled, with
trimmed wick, and spare oil? If you are a pastor, are you ready to answer His
questions about how you led and treated the flock He entrusted to you? As part
of that flock, are you ready to answer His questions about how you treated your
fellow congregants?
How ready are you to stand before the judgement seat? We
Christians will be first in line – His Word says that the church will be judged
first. Are you ready to answer for how you led your church? For how you loved
your neighbour? For how you looked after widows and orphans? For every word
that came out of your mouth? How will you fare when all your deeds are thrown
in the refining fire? Will anything be left that lasts?
When you next partake of the Lords Supper, maybe like me, you
need to reflect a bit first and maybe even do a little repenting before you eat
the bread and drink the wine. To do so lightly is an insult to Christ – among other
things.
All this because the dawning day might just be the
day of Christ’s return for His bride.
All I am saying is, “Are
you ready?”
