Such a Time as This
Esther
4:14 "And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time
as this?”
I
believe the Lord is calling all new Christians into the Kingdom for a purpose.
We already quote the Jeremiah scripture, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and
a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11) But – what if it’s more than
this? What if there is more than a hope and a future? What if there is a purpose
– a definable tasking; an achievable goal; a real living vision?
Suddenly,
every new soul won for the Kingdom of God takes on a new perspective; a new
potential.
A
very exciting set of “What if . . .?” questions. If I may say so, this scenario
should never surprise us. We already know that God has plans for us when He
calls us into the Kingdom. So why shouldn’t those plans include something
immediate; some great purpose. Look at people in previous revivals who have
been saved one night and are witnessing and healing and prophesying the next
night. I am sure it was like that in the first church. With only 120 ‘founder
members’ at Pentecost, they had a church of over 3000 by the end of day one !!!
So,
with the country in its current parlous state, surely some new Christians are
needed “for such a time as this”. We will never lose the need for older, more
experienced Christians to mentor the new arrivals, but never doubt the
possibilities that new Christians bring to the table. With Esther, we can ask, "And who knows whether you have not come to
the kingdom for such a time as this?” (Esther 4:14)
Exciting
times ahead methinks.
