Amour on Battle Ready

Get your armour On

Ephesians 6:11-18 “Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.  Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,  and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;  above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.  And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;  praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints.”

What a battle cry this passage is – what an inspiring message. “Armour on – here comes the enemy, but actually, he’s already defeated.”

I wonder why any in the church of Jesus Christ would even think about going into any kind of ministry or prayer warfare without taking basic precautions against the enemy. We know from experience, time and time again, that as soon as we prepare to start any kind of offensive that the enemy will fight back with every weapon at his disposal. Where is our protection? What is our covering? Have we sought God before setting our course or do we just think it’s a good idea? Indeed, is it our idea or God’s idea? Do we have the mental capacity and determination to stick to the task or will we be too easily sidetracked?

With your armour, your protection, in place, nothing can attack you, divert you, or defeat you. If you read the description in Ephesians, you may notice that the armour is all forward acing – retreat is not an option for Gods warriors. We go into prayer, or Intercessory warfare facing the enemy and that never changes. With God’s help we are over-comers (Romans 8). Retreat is not an option.

Get your armour on, face the enemy, arm yourself with the Word of God, win the battle and move on.
