Time to Stand

Time to Stand

Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

In this day and age, I am sick and tired of making excuses. Making excuses for others stupid mistakes. Making excuses for others evil decisions. Preaching forgiveness for the most obvious evils that are perpetrated again and again. Making excuses for those who not only should know better, but who were elected because they claimed they did know better. I’m sick of seeing all the incredible injustices, the blatant ‘one rule for me and another rule for you’ court rulings.

It is time for Christians to take their stand regardless of the consequences for doing so.

In China and the Far East, the consequences of publicly admitting to Christianity can be so devastating as to take the breath away. In Africa, the terrible cost of being a Christian in a non-Christian country can be unbelievable to us in the West. Countries who claim to be civilised, and who are in many respects, throw everything away by their treatment of those who disagree with their politics or their religion.

Now look closer to home. America banning home groups and home Bible studies as a “violation of parking laws”. Australia banning proselytisation of friends and neighbours, even in private, on pain of crippling fines. Britain, and most of Europe, banning the use of Bibles in schools whilst encouraging all sorts of things from other religions. Why, because anything Christian may “offend” someone from a different religion.

Why have we Christians tolerated these things for so long? Why, whenever any issue of this ilk is raised, do we shuffle our feet and maintain an embarrassed silence? “Oh we have to tolerate others. We must allow them their beliefs.” Of course we must – that is NOT the question. The question is, why do we tolerate one rule for one and a different rule for another. Why have we allowed liberal spin doctors to talk us away from Biblical truths in favour of a tolerate all, watered down, virtual apostate Christianity?

It is time, dear brothers and sisters, to “take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” It all comes back to “Trust and obey, for there’s no other way”.
