What will You Do?

What are we going to do?

When God moves in this nation, what are we going to do? When we start to see a move of God in our churches and in our lives, we will have a decision to make. Will we, or will we not, be obedient to His calling and His directions? Well, I suppose that’s two questions really, but we will have a choice – to answer or to ignore Him.

Church is the place where most effect of a move of God will be felt. Because it’s the way things are, most churches involved in the move will promptly lose around one third of their congregation. But that’s OK. The ones leaving will be those resistant to change and reluctant to involve deeper with God. To balance that, the ones joining will be more in number than those leaving and will be on fire for God. There will probably be some large-scale “church swapping” going on. Either that or quite a few people will vote with their feet and leave the church altogether. That will be incredibly sad but people being people, Satan will be dividing and conquering the weakest links.

Home & Family According to a picture we have hanging next to our front door, “An old rooster and a young chick live here”. We were ‘empty nesters’ when we met and we now have our home far away from any family. Our family all know where we stand with our faith and our church. Will that change when we are embroiled in a move of God? In many households, yes there will be a huge change. In others, like ours, not so much. We will still be “open all hours” for callers to drop by for coffee and prayer. Home and family might well be changed by your neighbours who might just notice the difference between the old you and the new zealous you. The opportunities will be many and varied so be prepared to grab them when they come along.

Our places of work may not be affected at all other than the fact that at least one newly fervent Christian is loose among the staff. This will give many opportunities for your testimony, perhaps for prayer, and even an invite or two to come along to see what all the excitement is about.

Your leisure and social life could well be turned upside down by a move of God in your church. For a start there will be a few extra services to go to in the week. There is a move of God currently taking place in South Wales and they are having nightly meetings with baptisms most nights. So much for the nights out with the girls or with the boys. Even in the house groups, those wonderful places of socialising while sharing the Gospel, the evenings may give way to church meetings.

You see, I believe, every aspect of our lives will be affected by a major move of God in our church or even in our town. We will see changed lives – changed language, changed habits, changed attitudes, changed life-style – everything will change and we need to be ready for it. We need to prepare our hearts to love the people, love them some more, and then to love them again.

That is what a move of God is all about – love. Are you ready?
