Gods Redemptive Promise

Gods Redemptive Promise

Isaiah 43:1-4 “But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.  For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I gave Egypt for your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.  Since you were precious in My sight, You have been honored, And I have loved you; Therefore I will give men for you, And people for your life.”

I believe this is a promise for us as much as it was ever a promise for Israel. Hear this promise paraphrased the way I feel the Lord is speaking to you today.

Fear not - once again the Lord speaks first to our fears – Fear not !!
Why? - for I have redeemed you – I, the Lord God Almighty, have redeemed you by the sacrificial and atoning death of My own Son, Jesus Christ, upon the Cross at Calvary. Thus I redeemed you from deatch and opened the way for you to have life eternal with me, where I am.

What is more - I have called you by your name; - I have called you through the veil and into my presence and to the plan I have for your life. You know the plan I am talking about, the one to prosper you and do you good, not harm.

You are Mine.  Can the Lord Himself really mean this? We are His? His what? I believe we are His children – co-heirs of His Kingdom with Jesus. So when He says, You are mine, He means that we are His beloved children, His possession, the inheritors of His Kingdom. What an amazing promise! What a wonderful thing to say. What a hope, and it’s not just a hope for today, it is a hope for eternity.

But wait, there is more! When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. In other words, when trouble comes, God will be there protecting us from all the tricks of the enemy who is trying to knock us down. See the next little bit too - When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. Yes God has His hand of protection over us exactly the same as He had His mighty hand upon Daniel in the fiery furnace.

And why is all this so? Because - For I am the Lord your God,  The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; because the God of Israel – of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – has declared Himself to be our Saviour. Amazingly, this same God who saved and who still keeps Israel, your God and my God, is a loving God, who wants not a single hair on our head to be harmed or lost before He redeems us straight into heaven with Jesus on that wonderful day when our Lord and Saviour comes for His Bride.

That will be you and it will be me – oh Hallelujah, what a day !!! What a Day !!!
