Spiritual
Call to Arms
Is
it just me or is there change in the air? I don't mean necessarily political change;
it may be a change in the spiritual atmosphere. I feel the forces of heaven are
gathering and there is something bigger than we have anticipated just waiting
'in the wings' as it were. Waiting for the call.
Yet
wait, God was not in the wind, nor in the earthquake, nor in the fire. (1 Kings
19:11-12) God was in the whisper. I hear a whisper today calling all of us to
prepare for battle. I hear a whisper calling us to spiritual and intercessory
warfare. I hear a whisper calling us to repentance and a turning from the ways
of the world. I hear a whisper calling us to prepare for a spiritual revolution
that will re-establish Gods Kingdom here on earth – “Your will be done, on
earth as it is in heaven.”
Perhaps
we need another Othniel, Caleb’s youngest brother and first judge of Israel.
(Judges 3:9-11) As Israel’s judge, we are told, he had the Spirit of the Lord
upon him. He led Israel to war and brought them peace. Is the Lord, I wonder,
raising up another Othniel for us today? One who will usher in judgement and
revival at virtually the same time? One, chosen by God, who will bring a renewed
meaning to Biblical living and standards; to Biblical moral values and
treatment of our fellow humans – brothers and sisters or not.
Whether
or not the Lord raises such a leader, the church nevertheless needs to turn
once more towards God and His ways. The Church, in the absence of a real Godly
leader, needs to assume the leadership role instead of abrogating responsibility
for it, as it has for the last few years.
This
is our spiritual ‘call to arms’ for today. To return to Godly values and to
take the lead morally and spiritually in a world almost begging for that ‘something
extra’ that seems to be so missing from their daily lives.
