Taking Ground
Joshua
1:1-3 “Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant,
saying, “Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross
this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to
the sons of Israel.
Every place on which the sole of your foot treads,
I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses.”
Just as the Lord gave this wonderful promise to
Joshua as he was about to step out in leadership of his people, so I believe
the Lord gives us this same promise today as we step out in faith for Him. It
is time for us to cross our Jordan and to enter our promised land. It is time
for us to claim every place we set our foot for the Lord. Every room in every
house in every road in every town – all for the Lord God Almighty.
His power is ours, and His promise is to give us
the victory as we step out in faith. The power of His Holy Spirit will enforce
victory after victory on our behalf as we do His bidding and His will for us.
Let us keep prayerful watch as He urges us on but also let us be fearless as we
step out in faith. For His promises are sure and amen.
We may be scorned and derided, persecuted and
beaten, maybe even killed for His Name, but the victory is always ours because
He paid the price for it at Calvary. All we are doing is enforcing that
victory. Satan will fight us every inch of the way. He may even win a battle or
two, but he cannot win the war. We’ve read the last page of the Book – God
wins, therefore we win too.
Brothers and sisters, I urge you, don’t give up
the battle, carry the fight forward. The whole armour of God is forward facing –
there can be no retreat, there will be no loss, every place we put our feet in
God’s Name is promised to us.
