Stepping Up

Step Up

I first heard the term ’step up’ in relation to a baseball game when the batter was told to ‘step up’ to the plate and take his best shot. Subsequently, I heard the term many times related to ‘doing ones duty’ or using whatever assets are at our disposal for whatever purpose they are needed at that moment.

If you have received anything from God then it is time to step up. It is my belief, and that of others, that when God gives us a gift or gifts of His Holy Spirit, then He expects us to use them. Romans 11:29 – “For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.” NKJV NIV and NASB or “For God’s gifts and his call can never be withdrawn.” NLT

Whether we choose to receive them or, after receipt, use them, is another matter entirely. But God chooses all of us to do something for His Kingdom. That we choose to ignore or reject that call will be between us and God one day.

So, it is time to use your gifts and step up. Do we step up for God with the same alacrity that we step up for our work or our family?
