Time to take back some territory
Joshua 1:3&9 “I will give you every place where you set your foot,”, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid;
do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Joshua
13:1 “When Joshua had
grown old, the Lord said to him, ‘You are now
very old, and there are still very large areas of land to be taken over.”
The Lord sometimes speaks to us very clearly using
His Word. He has done this to me many times and He has used these verses. In
the first chapter of Joshua, the phrase “Be
strong and very courageous” is mentioned three times the first passage
alone. But it is the phrase, “every place
you set your foot”, that encourages me most. Imagine that – everywhere God
sends you, He will give you that place.
It seems to me that every place the enemy has set
his sights, that place he has taken and made his own camp. I am urged to take
it back again. If we appropriate these promises and commands for ourselves – in
Jesus glorious Name – then the battle is already won. It was won at Calvary and
we need to enforce that victory.
“Every place
you set your foot” – If the Lord is directing our footsteps then He tells
us that we will win. He doesn’t promise an easy ride, nor is there any hint that
we will not have a fight, just that every place He guides us to set our feet –
Victory will be ours.
“Be strong
and very courageous” – Here is confirmation that the battle may be a hard
one but that we are to hold our nerve. “Submit yourselves to God; resist the
devil, and he will flee fro you.” He must yield the ground. No doubt about it.
“Do not be discouraged” – Do not let
set-backs discourage you. They will happen. Satan does not yield ground
willingly, nor easily. He will fight with every dirty weapon at his command.
Keep yourself clean before God and Satan will always have a hard time.
“The Lord our God will be with us” – Here
is your guarantee. If God is for us, or with us, who can stand against us? Not
a soul – not even Satan.
Even
though we may think we are old – God still has much territory for us to take.
Time to declare war on the evil that surrounds us and to take territory back
from the enemies of God. Time to pray out and expose the evil practices, the
liberal non-biblical agendas, the corruption.
Time
to take the territory back for the Lord.
