Attack, Attack, Attack

Attack, Attack, Attack

Satan has a not very secret plan – attack, attack, attack. It has always been his plan since he was thrown out of heaven. 1 Peter 5:8 “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” John 10:10 “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” He certainly never misses an opportunity to sow sourness into any situation – especially when God’s people are involved.

We have an active church where Holy Spirit is encouraged to work among us.  We seem to have gotten quite close to a promised move of God lately. Similarly, God gave us a vision for updating and improving some of the outreach work in which we are involved. All has been going quite well – except for the constant attack of Satan upon many of our members who are committed to seeing us in both a move of God and a move to bring all of our town to a saving knowledge Christ.

We, personally, have been under constant attack for the past three months, as have many of our friends. In one respect this can be very wearing and  annoying, not to say discouraging – which is exactly the effect that Satan wants to achieve. However, having recognised it for what it is, we have also been very encouraged that we are very close to the will of God for our own lives and for those around us in the church. We have learned the hard way to recognise these attacks for what they are and to repel them with prayer, scripture, and good old-fashioned stubborn determination to see the will of God done “on earth as it is in heaven”. The result has been a switchback ride of high’s and low’s but with an overall exultation in the love of God.

Does that sound strange – an “exultation in the love of God”? Because that is what we really need whenever Satan attacks. The one thing he cannot abide is our praise and worship because that is where God abides. Psalm 22:3 “God lives in the praises of his people”. When we really learn the truth of praising God in everything, then we will know how to answer Satan’s attacks on us, our friends, and our family.

Do I hear an AMEN out there ???
