God's Love for Us

God's Love for Us

You would never know Him as your provider unless you had experienced lack.
You would never know Him as your hope unless you had experienced hopelessness.
You would never understand His love unless you had felt unloved.”
Beverly Lorenz on FB.

My wife and I had been wondering God’s reason for bringing us out of London, 150-odd miles up country to a small town of rather less population than we were used to. He had settled us into a wonderful outreaching church where we had been welcomed by pastor and people alike with an amazing show of God’s love. Then we got involved with an outreach to the less fortunate, the disadvantaged, and those with ‘problems’.

We found a wonderful group of people of all ages – a mixture of unemployed, users and abusers, homeless, and those in the caring community. It took a while for them to trust and accept us but eventually we settled in and became a part of the group.

Then we had a wilderness experience ourselves. We could have lost everything. Instead we experienced God’s wonderful provision, His new hope, and His love first hand for ourselves.

Now, we are quite deeply involved with outreach. We are entrusted with the running of a Christian run charity shop and café where we raise money for two main charities and several  small ones. We have long experienced ministry to others but previously in a church environment. Now it is in an environment where need is met by love, with hope, and most importantly, with provision. Now we are blessed to be able to help provide for others in some small way through the small charity shop and café we run, and trough our own small ministry called Sanctuary.

God has blessed us so very much. Should we not bless others in gratitude and in the overflow of our own blessings. Have you received His provision, or His hope, or His love in some small way in your own life? Do you have any way to put something back into others lives? Even here in the Western church we see so much need, so much hopelessness, such a lack of love both received and given. It is our wonderful privilege to be able to put something back – how about you? You don’t have to do anything except support with your prayers and maybe a donation now and again.

We are surrounded by so much need, in our own land and in other, far away places. How can any of us simply ignore it and not respond. I am not asking for anything from anyone but someone somewhere needs your help. Do it for Jesus – “Inasmuch as you did it for the least of these my brothers, you did it for me.”

Just do it.
